One of HRN’s core values is to give back to the communities we serve. The “spirit of giving” is essential to our culture. We offer paid volunteer opportunities and donation matching where employees can contribute to causes that they are passionate about. These programs allow employees to contribute to charitable causes while amplifying the impact of their giving.
As a team one of our favorite ways to give back every year is by participating in the McBaker Program at the Ronald McDonalds House. Baking warm and sweet treats for the families caring for critically ill children is one small way we can bring a little comfort to their home away from home. By leveraging our resources, expertise and the passion of our employees and clients, HRN aims to create a ripple effect of positive change. We believe the collective efforts can transform lives and build stronger, more sustainable communities.
Here are some more ways to celebrate National Make a Difference Day
- Volunteer at a Local Nonprofit Organization
Reach out to local nonprofit organizations in your community and inquire about volunteer opportunities. Whether it’s serving meals at a soup kitchen, assisting at an animal shelter, or participating in a charity event, your time and skills can make a significant difference in the lives of others.- Organize a Community Cleanup
Gather a group of friends, family, or neighbors and organize a community cleanup event. Identify areas in your town or neighborhood that could benefit from some attention, such as parks, beaches, or streets. Bring gloves, garbage bags, and cleaning supplies, and work together to beautify the environment. It’s a wonderful way to make a visible impact and inspire others to take care of their surroundings.- Support Local Businesses & Initiatives
National Make a Difference Day is an opportunity to support local businesses and initiatives that are making a positive difference in your community. Visit and buy from local shops, restaurants, and farmers markets to contribute to the local economy. Additionally, research and contribute to causes that align with your values. Whether it’s donating to a local food bank, contributing to an education fund, or supporting a sustainable initiative, every contribution counts.- Spread Kindness & Compassion
Acts of kindness don’t require grand gestures. Sometimes, the smallest acts can have the most significant impact. Use National Make a Difference Day as a way to spread kindness and compassion in your everyday interactions. Smile at strangers, hold the door open for someone, offer a helping hand to those in need, or simply listen to someone who needs a friend. These acts of kindness can create a ripple effect and inspire others to do the same.- Mentor or Tutor
Plan a fundraising event to support a cause close to your heart. Whether it’s a charity walk, a bake sale, a garage sale, or a virtual fundraising campaign, gathering people together for a common cause can be powerful. Raise awareness about the issue you’re supporting and encourage friends, family, and community members to participate or donate. Not only will you make a difference through the funds raised, you’ll also inspire others to get involved.
