| HRN’s Fall Focus on Safety! |
| This fall, we are focusing on safety and mandatory safety documentation required of California employers. All California employers are required to have the following: IIPP/Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (in writing for employers with 10/more employees) – A written plan that outlines strategies to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, to identify and control workplace hazards to reduce the number of injuries and illnesses, and to improve employee safety and health. WVPP/Workplace Prevention Plan & Training – includes procedures for hazard assessment, accepting and responding to reports of violence, implementing emergency response plans, and maintaining a log of violent incidents. Also requires annual employee training. Emergency Action Plan – details the necessary procedures and actions for employees and employers to take during a workplace emergency to protect human life, health, and safety. Heat Illness Prevention Plan/Outdoor and Indoor (if applicable) – written safety program to protect workers from heat-related illnesses. The indoor standard applies when indoor temperatures reach 82°F or higher. Safety Training – Includes explicit safety and health training requirements to ensure that workers have the required skills and knowledge to safely do their work. Safety Committee – must have at least two employee and two employer members, meet quarterly, and maintain records of meetings and action taken. We have teamed up with safety consultant Alba Vazquez, to provide safety services on behalf of our clients, including safety support for: Safety Evaluations and Inspections (on-site) Hazard Communication Plan Safety Documentation in Spanish Safety Training (English and Spanish) If you need any of the above safety plans, or assistance with your safety committee set-up, please reach out to us for assistance.
